A couple of the other Aussie girls and myself decided that we needed a Christmas party and that it should be held at Celsius (my residence).
So I decided I wanted to cook the Christmas turkey, because we all know I love a challenge. I also decided that I wanted to cook a ginegerbread house and one other dessert. Two out of three of these things I had never cooked before!
On the 22nd we began the shopping, for christmas presents, kris kringle presents, decorations and food. We spent 5 hours shopping! Unfortunately a christmas turkey was going to be a little bit out of our price range, so instead I bought 2 smaller chickens to act as our faux turkey.
Because I'm in europe, they celebrate here on the 24th, so our dinner was planned for the evening of Christmas eve.
On the 23rd Sarah, Erica and myself had a baking party and spent the whole afternoon making our desserts and sweet treats. Sarah made rum balls, chocolate crackles and a cheesecake. Erica made a chocolate cake and I made the walls and roof for my gingerbread house.
We took a break and had dinner, and at about 11pm we decided to begin cooking again. I had to make the hazelnut butter for my chickens and put it under the skins. This cooking escapade ended at about 1am.
All the day of Christmas eve was spent doing more shopping, cooking, cleaning, and moving tables and chairs from every other floor of celsius to the first floor.

I had to stuff and cook my chickens, as well as build my gingerbread house and prepare my other dessert. Which was the topping of carland cake with fresh fruit.
Then everyone started arriving and bringing in all the food they had prepared. We almost didn't have enough room on the table to fit all the food! It was delicious, with food from all around the world present.

We ate, and we ate, and then we ate dessert!
Then we played our kris kringle game.
Then I got to skype my family! At 11pm here, it was christmas morning in Australia, so I skyped my family and they all sat on the couch and we opened presents together. (Mum had sent mine over the week prior, including my christmas stocking!)
I got off skype at about 12am, and then the party started! Everyone was dancing and singing and having a great time. At about 3 am I decided to go to bed because I was exhausted from such a busy day. But I heard from others that they did not go to bed until 4 or 5am!
On Christmas morning I was woken up by a phone call from one of the girls downstairs, saying it was time to open presents. So I sleepily trudged downstairs in my pajamas, with my doona and presents. It was great to get presents from some of my friends here.
Then we got to eat leftovers! There was such a huge variety to chose from!
After that I snuggled up on the couch and fell asleep again! I managed to sleep through the whole clean up! The vacuuming, the mopping, moving all the tables and chairs, and washing all the dishes!
In the afternoon we ate more left overs, and played a little bit of poker. (I lost...)
and then we all went out! Still feeling weary from the past few days of partying, we all got dressed and went out dancing! It was a lot of fun.
But waking up this morning, I am super tired from a very busy few days. But it has been very enjoyable. It didn't really feel like christmas at all, and I did miss my family a lot over the past few days. But I am excited because my brother will be here in 3 days! and I get to see my parents in a week!
